Sipacapa is more than a delicious coffee; it's a commitment to sustainability. Since its inception in 2009, the Asociación de Caficultores y Agricultores de Sipacapa (ACAS) has championed coffee production as a green alternative to the mining industry in San Marcos. The organization also supports its members’ transition to organic production. With notes of apple, simple syrup, and a lingering aftertaste of sweet cocoa, Sipacapa coffee invites you to savor the fruits of their transformation.

Subscriber Exclusive | Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia

Laba Gesha - Natural Sundried

strawberry cream | pastry | cocoa

Roast Level

light roast

Laba Gesha is a small community on the outskirts of the famed Yirgacheffe district, bordering Ethiopia's Bule mountain range. Because of the area's high altitude and cooler climate, local farmers traditionally relied more on cereal crop production than coffee farming. As the climate has changed, more coffee is being produced here, and two years ago, our exporting partner, GBroad Trading, started working with a small group of farmers in the village. Although this town shares the name ‘Gesha’ with the famous coffee variety whose origins lie in Western Ethiopia, no Gesha trees grow here. Instead, farmers in the area cultivate Kurume, 74110 and 74112, common across the Yirgacheffe area. In the cup, we find delicate notes of strawberry cream alongside sweet pastry and cocoa.
